The Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM) of Bern performs research in various disciplines relevant to public health sciences (www.ispm.unibe.ch). Groups cut across divisions, facilitating an interdisciplinary approach to study in the fields of clinical epidemiology, social and behavioural health, biostatistics, and international and environmental health. The ISPM is highly reputed for its expertise in environmental epidemiology, infectious diseases, and the health of vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly.
The Public Health Sciences (PHS) course program (www.medizin.unibe.ch/phs) is a structured training program for doctoral students at the University of Bern. The program focuses on strengthening research competence of PhD students in methodologies employed to generate scientific evidence for the public health field. The ISPM also offers advanced courses designed for the continuing education of healthcare workers in the field of clinical research.
Per October 1, 2025 (or upon agreement), we are looking for program manager with an overall responsibility for the conduct of the PHS course program. This position offers the opportunity to contribute your ideas and help shape the PHS training for PhD students at the University of Bern.
- Management, organisation and further development of the PHS course program
- Management of courses in collaboration with course administrator
- Financial oversight, budget preparation and monitoring
- Promotion, public relations, and maintenance of the contact network (teaching staff, participants, alumni and stakeholders)
- Student counselling and assessment tasks
- Further development of the course program in consultation with the Steering Committee
- Quality assessment and reporting
- Collaboration with Graduate Schools and PhD programs
- Participation in national/ international public health networks
Additional (optional) tasks (20%)
A 20% time is proposed for the implementation of the certificate of advanced studies (CAS) Clinical Research in Health Care Organisations. The tasks in this project include management, organisation and further development of the CAS Clinical Research in Health Care Organizations.
- University degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Medical Education, or related field (PhD of advantage)
- Relevant professional experience in project management
- Organisational skills and entrepreneurial spirit with interest in communication
- Flexibility and reliability
- Confidence and friendly manners, willingness to work with contacts from diverse backgrounds
- Very good knowledge of English and German
The initial contract will be until December 2026, with the intention to extend the contract. Please apply no later than August 31, 2025.
