Interfaculty Bioinformatics Unit (IBU)
Start of employment: 01.07.2025 or by agreement

The project focuses on using long-read sequencing data for population and conservation genomics, particularly in endangered species like Zingel asper. The position offers collaboration with leading researchers and access to cutting-edge genomic resources.

Tasks
  • Develop and implement reproducible pipelines for population genomic analyses
  • Analyze whole-genome resequencing data of Zingel asper
  • Contribute to conservation and comparative genomics research
  • Collaborate with the Earth BioGenome Project and European Reference Genome Atlas
  • Work closely with researchers at the Naturhistorisches Museum Bern and the Institute of Ecology and Evolution
Requirements
  • Strong background in next-generation sequencing (NGS) analysis
  • Experience in population genetics and/or evolutionary biology
  • Motivation to work in interdisciplinary and collaborative research settings
  • Proficiency in English (working language of the group)
We offer
  • A PhD position in a dynamic and collaborative research environment
  • Collaboration with leading national and international research consortia
  • The opportunity to use long-read sequencing data to advance conservation genomics in non-model and endangered species, supporting evidence-based biodiversity management
